Aizuddin, would you be able to do a blog post on your thoughts about ageing cigars, your experiences with the flavour changes, and whether in your opinion it is worth it? That would be a very interesting read for me.

Aizuddin, I will not say anyone is an idiot, but if someone was, that person certainly wasn't you.

I'm a really slow smoker myself, and usually smoke my Habanos cigars down to the nub if I enjoy the cigar. I think the slow smoking technique shine in the last third of the cigar because you don't get that tar build up or any other unpleasant tastes. Sometimes I find my Habano to deliver the ultimate taste experiences in the last third, and Mr. ... can call me whatever!

I really admire your reply to the statement you received, great post!

I found recently from your other post on dry-boxing that if I dry-box my cigar overnight, I can smoke the final third and it tastes milder. Do you experience that too?

Michael, yes, smoking technique will affect how a cigar tastes later in the last third. Heavy puffing will mean the tobacco will burn hotter, thus leading to more charring, thus leading to a stronger "charcoal bitter" flavour. So go slow and easy, to enjoy the flavour of a cigar as it was meant to taste. :)
